Jaggery (Gur)

It is the most common alternative of white sugar besides being more tastier and healthier. Also known as ‘gur” in Hindi; the properties shared by both are similar. Available in solid form and powder form; this medicinal sugar is known for curing health problems like indigestion, constipation and cough.

Stevia

Also known as ‘meethi patti” in Hindi; it is mostly recommended to diabetic patients ad people undergoing weight loss because it is very low in calories. This sugar alternative will surely satiate your sugar cravings. It is easily available in sugar form marketed by different brands in India. This medicinal herb is known to protect against tooth decay, stomach acidity and high blood pressure.

Dry Fruits

 

The popular dry fruits like raisins, figs and prunes are excellent alternative to your sugar delights. Dates are highly rich in potassium, iron, fibre and vitamin B. Raisins on the other hand, are sweet, succulent and contains the nutrients of grapes. Figs help in battling against asthma, cough and cold. Just toss a few raisins in your meal for their sweetness.

Fruits

Banana, carrots, beets, papaya apple, grapes, watermelon, mangoes, oranges etc all have natural sugars in them. These sugars are present in less concentrated form and so do not elevate your blood sugar levels. Other benefits incurred are low in calories, zero fat present and curing of health diseases.
