Cholesterol has various benefits for your health. However, it is dangerous in higher amounts. It is hence, crucial to reducing your cholesterol in excess. 

When you have high cholesterol, they can deposit around the artery walls, preventing regular blood flow. And these processes can cause several heart complications in the wrong run. Meaning, chest pain, heart attacks, and strokes can all link back to high cholesterol.

So other than medicines, is there a natural way to reduce your cholesterol? Absolutely! And that is through Yoga. 

Let us find out how:

 

Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand)

It is the Queen of Asanas

  • Lie down on your back and straighten your body. 
  • Inhale and raise your legs to a 90° from your body.
  • Place your arms behind your waist, exhale, and lift your buttocks.
  • Raise your 90° legs upwards till the lower back is perpendicular to your head. 
  • Maintain this position for 5-10 seconds and bring it down. 

 

Chakrasana (Wheel Pose)

The Chakrasana is beneficial for your digestive system, as well as your spine’s flexibility. 

  • Lie down on the mat and bend up your knees.
  • Invert up your elbows, and place your palms beside your ears. 
  • Now use your palms to balance and raise your hips. 
  • Lift your thighs to be around 90°
  • Raise them further till your abdomen is pointing up and the palms & feet facing the same side. 
  • Maintain this pose for 5-10 seconds before releasing the body. 

 

Ardha Matsyendrasana (Half Spinal Twist)

This is an all-rounder when it comes to being beneficial to your body. From your liver to the lungs, the Ardha Matsyendrasana is the answer. 

  • Sit down on a mat with your legs stretched out in front. 
  • Bend up your left leg, hold your left foot, and bring it beside the right thigh. 
  • Bend your right leg and take your right foot to face the left. 
  • Place your right arm over the left knee, and put your left palm flat behind your buttocks. 
  • Slightly twist your spine to look to the left and breathe. 
  • Maintain this pose for 5-10 seconds before doing the reverse. 

 

These yoga asanas can reduce your cholesterol, protect your heart health, and help you lead a healthier life.
