Determine Your Undertone

It’s less about the hair color you like and more about what hair color your skin likes. Choose the warmth or coolness of the color depending on your unique skin undertone, to look as flattering as it possibly can. Undertone refers to the natural colors underneath the surface of your skin. There are three traditional undertones:  warm toned skin has peach to yellow, golden and olive hues, cool toned skin has red to pink and bluish hues, and neutral. Stick to products that match your undertone, when choosing hair colour to make sure a product will give you the color payoff you want.

The next big question is, “Huh, what is my skin undertone?”

The tried and tested method: look at the veins in your wrist. If your veins have a blue or purple cast, then you have cool undertones. If the veins have a greenish hue, you have warm undertones. If you can’t really figure out whether they favor one shade over the other, then you my friend, likely have neutral undertones. For those with neutral undertones, congratulations, no need to consult the colour wheel — any of the colors should look great on you. For warm or cool undertones, here’s a guide to the best matches for your skin tone.
