Smoking kills. We all come across this warning tens of time, everyday. Still, more than 20% of the world’s population is smoker. Chain smokers, occasional smokers, passive smokers and list continues. We’re all aware about the harms smoking causes to our body, particularly to the lungs. Even if you are a non-smoker you are under a threat of a lung disease. All credit goes to pollution around us. Therefore, it becomes important to cleanse your lungs every once in a while. I’ve been asked about this number of times so I’ll tell you a quick 3-day process about it.

Pre-requisite to this 72 hour detox process is to get rid of all the dairy products. Yes, milk, cheese, curd, butter, everything. It has been observed that due to unethical and inhumane practices performed to meet the increasing demand of dairy products, these products contain concentrated toxins.

Before your first day of regime, drink a cup of herbal tea before bed time. This would help your body to release harmful toxins from gastrointestinal tract. Now, first thing in the morning, squeeze 2 lemons in 300ml water and drink it before breakfast.

Breakfast

With your preferred breakfast, consume about 300 ml of Pineapple or Grapefruit juice. These juices have antioxidant properties that helps to improve your respiratory system.

Between Breakfast and Lunch

You need to consume about 300 ml of pure carrot juice. It contains beta-carotene, a type of vitamin A that is a powerful antioxidant. This juice also helps in alkalising your body for the detox process.

Lunch

Consume 300 ml of either orange juice or grapefruit juice. You can see for alternatives that are rich in potassium. Since potassium is good for cleansing we need it in this step.

Post-Dinner 

After you are done with your dinner, drink about 400 ml of cranberry juice. It helps in fighting harmful bacterias that cause lung infections. Cranberry juice is also a tremendous antioxidant that offers variety of additional benefits like good cardiovascular health, prevents cancer, aids weight loss etc.

Workouts and Body Care

Body releases a lot of toxins while sweating. Try to include few exercises or sports in your day-to-day life. Also, taking a hot water shower or steam bath for 20 minutes will make your body release those harmful toxins.

In order to soothe your inhaling tract, you can add 5-10 drops of eucalyptus oil in hot water. Place your head above the bowl, cover it with a towel and inhale the steam.

Apart from performing these steps its important that you make few changes in your lifestyle too. You’ll have to strictly avoid smoking, alcohol and nicotine intake. Remember, small collective efforts bring a bigger change.
